In 1936, a horse trained and co-owned by the great-grandfather of Sydney fund manager Will Culbert won the Sydney Cup at Royal Randwick.
It was bought in 1933 for 150 guineas (£160) in a racing partnership between Sydney accountant Max Claveranne and Culbert’s great-grandfather, the successful trainer Danny Lewis.
